2 hours Private Crochet Tuition : perfect for worldwide pandemic situations ;-)

Who will be teaching me?

You will be taught by our wonderfully experienced crochet teacher Jo Raffaitin, who has been knitting and crocheting since she was knee high to a grasshopper and is also an experienced pharmacist in her other life ;-)
Jo is one of the most patient people in the world and will help you master the art of Crochet - be it just starting to learn the basics, or crocheting a garment or blanket.

Who is it suitable for?

Everyone! This 2 hour private crochet workshop session can be tailored to your needs! :-) If you are a complete beginner and need to learn how the basic crochet stitches and learn to crochet a granny square that's fine, or if you are more accomplished and want to learn something more advanced like a more complex pattern, or how to crochet a garment or a particular blanket, or even how to do giant jumbo crochet - that's also fine. You might also want help starting a kit? A blanket kit? Or Amigurumi animals? You can buy this session in chunks of 2 hours, so if you wanted to book 4 hours, you would buy a quantity of 2 of these 2 hr sessions - and so on! Adults and children over 11 only please.

Where are your Private Crochet Tuition Sessions Held?

Private Crochet workshops are held 'in person' in our colourful studio next to the shop at The Gilliangladrag Fluff-a-torium in Betchworth, Surrey UK. (There's a map at the foot of our home page!)

Is there a Virtual Digital Version available online?

If you can't travel to us for any reason, we can possibly arrange a virtual private class held online via Zoom etc. However, you would need to make sure you have the things you need in advance. Please email to discuss further.

Dates and times

2 hour sessions are usually held on a weekday during the day - or sometimes can be arranged at weekends, although our studio gets far more booked up at weekends.

We will endeavour to find a mutually agreeable date and time asap. If we can't then we will offer you a refund. Once booked - our regular Ts and Cs apply and it's not possible to cancel within 30 days of the mutually agreed date. We will send you confirmation of this date.

NB : We can only start to arrange a date and time AFTER you have booked and paid for your private session. If for any reason we can't find you a suitable date, then we can refund you. 99% of the time we organise dates that are mutually convenient with no problem, so please don't worry! :-) xx

What if there's 2 of us that would like to learn together. Is it the same price?

No it would be 50% more for the 2nd person to cover extra costs. You can still book this session and then we can invoice you for the rest. If there are more than 2 of you then please see below.

What if there's more than 2 of us that would like to learn together. How much is that?

We would charge £50 per extra person for the 2 hours. (Maximum 5 students with 1 teacher = 6!) You can still book this session and then we can invoice you for the rest.

How many hours would I need to book to make certain things?

2 hours is sufficient for doing something straightforward and learning from scratch, and might also be suitable for tackling a certain part of a project, or getting going with something new. We can advise!! :-)

4 hours would be better for more complex techniques, patterns or projects  - dependent on the complexity - we can advise!! :-)

How much does it cost?

A 2 hour private crochet session costs £80 and 4 hours is £160 and so on. This is inclusive of VAT.

What's included?

The session includes one-on-one tuition with Clare or Jo, - but you would need to purchase your own hook and yarn or bring it with you. There is plenty to choose from in the shop and you'll receive a 10% discount for the day you book. (There will be tape measures and scissors etc. for you to use in the studio whilst you're there!)

We will also supply you with drinks & biscuits etc. PLUS you would also then be entitled to 10% discount in our shop "The Fluff-a-torium" on the day of your private crochet session! Wooohoooo :-)
