Drop Spindle (Wooden) for Hand Spinning

A drop spindle is a tool for hand spinning that has been used for thousands of years to spin fibres into yarn. Today it is an accessible way to master the basics of spinning and spin small amounts of yarn yourself before maybe moving on later to a spinning wheel!

The spinning top or whorl, consists of a disc that functions as a weight, and the stem below around which the spun yarn can be wound.

These spindles are made with different types of wood. This smoothly polished spindle weighs approx 60.1 grams and is suitable for spinning DK-, worsted- and bulky-weight yarns.

Each spindle is handmade and therefore unique, which means that every piece may look slightly different!
